Privacy policy

Last updated 1 November 2026

This policy explains what Kunolu Applications Inc (“we”), the maker of TineEQ, collects, what leaves your Mac when you use the Sound Engineer, and who else handles it. The short version: your audio never leaves your Mac. The Sound Engineer works from a text description of your session, which passes through our server to Google’s Gemini AI service and is not kept by us.

What stays on your Mac

  • All audio. Tuning, analysis, listening to your mix, comparing against a reference track, reviewing takes and separating stems all happen on your Mac. No recording, stem, bounce, reference song or clip of audio is uploaded. No images or spectrograms are sent either.
  • Your Logic project file itself, its name and its location are used on your Mac only.
  • Saved styles, your undo history, failure reports and TineEQ’s session folder under ~/Library/Application Support/TineEQ. Your sign-in is kept in the macOS Keychain, and a small signed record of your subscription (your account number and until when it is valid) lets TineEQ work offline.

What leaves your Mac when you ask the Sound Engineer something

Each request is sent as text to our server, which forwards it to Google’s Gemini API. It contains:

  • Your words: what you typed (up to 2,000 characters), plus a short summary of your last five requests in that Logic project: each request, the track it was on, the reply and the changes made, all shortened.
  • Your session, described in numbers and names: Logic track names; which TineEQ plug-in is on each track and its settings; fader levels and pan; the names of other plug-ins on those tracks; and measurements TineEQ takes, such as loudness, peaks, frequency balance in bands, stereo width, compression amounts, pitch and tuning figures, tempo, time signature, key, song sections, and where vocal takes and ad-libs fall.
  • Results of TineEQ’s own analysis, such as notes found in a vocal, take reviews and mix comparisons, as figures and short text.
  • Reference tracks, as figures only: if you name a reference song, its file name and location, its length and the loudness and tonal differences TineEQ measured. Not the audio.
  • Your saved styles when the Sound Engineer uses one: the name and description you gave it and its settings.
  • File locations on your Mac: some results include the full path of TineEQ’s session folder or of files it rendered, and those paths include your Mac user name.
  • What Logic is showing: if a Logic dialog or alert is in the way, its title and up to 160 characters of its text (which can include a project or file name), and the names of tracks that are armed for recording or monitoring.
  • Your preferences: short notes TineEQ has learned about how you usually like things, so the Sound Engineer can follow them.

Requests do not include your email, name, device identifiers or anything about your Mac’s hardware. Our server attaches nothing that identifies you when it forwards a request to Google.

What we keep

  • Your account: your email address and sign-in details, handled by Google Firebase Authentication. If you sign in with Google we receive your Google account’s email and name. Passwords are stored only as secure hashes by Firebase.
  • Your subscription: your Stripe customer number, plan, status and renewal dates.
  • Usage: for each Sound Engineer request, the time, the AI model, how many word pieces (tokens) went in and out, what it cost us and how long it took, and running totals per day and per billing month, so we can apply the fair-use limits and set them sensibly. We do not store what you typed, the session description or the reply.
  • Crash reports, only if you turn them on: the app name and version, your macOS version and the technical report of the crash, linked to your account if you are signed in. These can contain track or file names that were in memory at the time.
  • Server logs: our hosting provider records technical details of each connection (time, address, the page or endpoint, the response code) for security and troubleshooting. These are kept for a limited time and never include your requests’ content.

Who else handles your data

  • Google Gemini API receives the session descriptions above to produce the Sound Engineer’s replies. Under Google’s terms for the paid Gemini API, Google does not use these requests to train its models; it may keep them for a limited time to detect abuse.
  • Google Cloud and Firebase host our server, database, sign-in and these pages, in the United States. We are based in Canada, so your information is stored and processed outside Canada (and outside the EU and UK) under the laws of the United States, with these providers’ contractual safeguards.
  • Stripe processes payments and stores your payment details. We never see your full card number.

We don’t sell your data, show you ads, or share it with anyone else except where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Account and subscription records are kept while you have an account, and billing records for as long as tax law requires. Usage records are kept for up to 24 months. Crash reports are kept for up to 12 months. Sign-in codes used to connect the app expire after 5 minutes.

Your choices and rights

  • Don’t want something sent? Rename a track before you ask, or don’t name a reference file. The rest of TineEQ (tuning, the channel strip, mastering) works without the Sound Engineer and sends nothing about your session; it only checks your subscription with our server, using your sign-in.
  • Crash reports are off until you agree to send them, and you can turn them off in Setup.
  • You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and its data, by writing to hello@tineeq.com. We handle personal information under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. Our Privacy Officer is responsible for how we handle personal information and can be reached at the same address. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, we use your data to provide the service you signed up for (performance of a contract) and, for security and usage limits, our legitimate interests; crash reports are sent only with your consent. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California) you have further rights, including to object and to complain to your local data-protection authority.

Children

TineEQ is not meant for children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change what TineEQ sends or keeps, we’ll update this page and, for important changes, tell you by email or in the app before they take effect.
